Joe Truesdale founded ONE on ONE Firearms Instruction LLC in 2010 after retiring from corporate management and completing what he describes as a deeply disappointing CCW class with an instructor motivated solely by revenue. Determined to build a student-focused alternative, Truesdale combined his decades of US Army Military Police Corps experience and leadership roles at major transportation companies with his competitive shooting background—primarily IDPA competition since 2005. He traveled nationally to train with recognized schools and worked at a Nevada firearms academy to refine his teaching approach before launching the Sacramento-based company. The company now operates as a partnership, with Truesdale bringing on Sean Young in 2014, Fred Mowrey in 2016, and Ryan Harrigan in 2018. All instructors hold NRA Certified Firearms Instructor and California DOJ Certified Firearms Safety Instructor credentials.
